Vets Meet Vets
Whether or not you have ever served, I think for the most part people are thankful for the services provided by the men and women of the armed forces. The war on terror continues in Iraq, Afghanistan and around the world and our American veterans are being affected. The growing travesty of the suicide rates affecting our veteran’s community is becoming a national problem.
In a message forwarded to me, Rod Wittmier from VetsMeetVets sums it up in a recent note;
“I think this is just the tip of the iceberg. Unfortunately we won’t know the numbers from the CDC until 2011, but everyone I speak to says it’s not looking good. Clearly the new programs that the VA has put in place are making a difference, yet the increase in the number of veterans returning from our current wars is still going to overwhelm the system.
Let’s bring this issue into each and every town, not near the VA centers but EVERY TOWN in the nation! We have a formula that works; surround our veterans with others so that they know that ‘They are not alone!’
If you are a veteran or simply concerned and looking to help or volunteer within your community please check out www.VetsMeetVets.org or contact Rod directly at Rod@VetsMeetVets.org and please register on his site www.VetsMeetVets.org.
